Tony didn't hear his name fully, but it was enough that when he felt arms, he didn't panic or get hostile. Instead, he went easily where Gladio tugged him. The trembling anger in him was making starting to seep out of him, which made him uncomfortable knowing what would be underneath.

"It's never us!" He hissed. "We are never the ones who suffer. We first learn about a monster or a murdered because they have already taken a long- destroyed a family. We can defend the whole damn planet, but the first strike kills so many people before we even know there's a battle." He shook his head. "We fight so our children can live and not suffer. As hurt as we get, it's nothing compared to what the children see. I moved my family away from the city after.. after Thanos wiped out half our world's population so my daughter could keep her innocence as long as possible and I could heal. If she wants idle then she should try spending twenty two days in an adrift space craft with no food or water and knowing the next day the air would be gone too. That's the real definition of helpless. Or watching a whole city be lifted off the ground for the sheer purpose of it being dropped to destroy your planet by a creation, you made. There's all the death count you'll ever need."

He finally looked at Gladio, not caring that he had tears running down his face. "I wasn't a good man when I became Iron Man and I sure as hell didn't ask to become him, but I've tried so hard to make up for it. Despite all the good I did, I don't think I ever got close because of mistakes I kept making."
