It's what you are used to. I like it with baked potatoes that get a tougher shell around the soft inside and that's where you put the goodies. It's rich and fattening, so not something to eat often.

Lily is my faerie. Her healing magic is not as potent as my own, but for minor wounds her abilities are more than adequate.

There is a native-run clinic that opened this past summer, but I would not trust it. Regis Lucis Caelum has a shop where he sells potions and elixirs, and I have been considering saving up to open my own clinic with an adjacent lab.

There are a number of others here with healing abilities. I believe in cases where medical treatment is needed tend to be dealt with privately by whichever healer the wounded is closest to.

I still have my suspicions that if a contagion were to make its way within the barrier we would be quite fucked.

What's wrong with the native-run clinic?

It is run by the natives. The ones who cannot understand what it feels like to have a biological body and all that it entails.

If any ever offer you food or drink, be wary. They enjoy experiementing with compounds that they believe will be of benefit to us, but fail to understand proper testing protocols. It is a miracle none of us have died of poisoning yet.

I doubt any of them mean us active harm, as we are the sustenance to their beloved gods, but I have no doubt that the 'doctors' will collect data without our consent and use it for things we would never agree to.

In short: I do not trust them. They have continuously proven to be inept when it comes to us, so I have no reason to believe their medical treatments would be any different.

All very good points. So why not just take over that clinic and become the person in charge of it? Then you can keep them from doing those things. Plus, free equipment, space, and assistants who can at least bring you coffee or answer the phones.

1. I would be outnumbered.
2. I don't understand their technology.
3. Even if I did take it over the equipment would be compromised.
4. I only had a handful of months of medical tutelage under my mentor.
5. I would like to ingratiate myself to the natives so they will be more inclined to help me break rules by accessing forbidden areas.
6. There isn't enough danger to warrant the consequences.

When you cut a pie the filling squishes out everywhere. The edges are too crumbly and the bottom is too soggy. It is the worst type of dessert to share with friends.

Cake is consistent and more versatile. You can have myriad different flavours in each layer, and you can decorate them beautifully.

Friends deserve cake.
